Little Grassbird is a bit of a mishmash of creative and eco-friendly crafty goodness.
There you will find cute little needle felted friends, the occasional embroidered or sewn thingamabob, locally printed cards with illustrations or photographs of the aforementioned cute felted friends, sometimes a mended garment or two, and an encouraging word to help you on your own crafty journey.
Little Grassbird is run by Beth, a self-taught fibre artist from Castlemaine, Victoria. Although she works mainly in fibres these days she is a qualified jeweller, completing the Advanced Diploma in Engineering Technology (Jewellery) at NMIT in 2013. She has also studied costume design, ceramics, and illustration. Beth was the costume designer and maker for Arena Theatre Company’s Helpmann Award winning show Robot Song.
She is a member of Craft, and was part of Craft Hatch in April and June 2019. Before COVID hit Beth had a Little Grassbird stall at the Castlemaine Artists Market, and was running needle felting workshops.
It’s all gone a little wobbly since then, but she hopes that the markets will be back soon. She’s also looking at getting the workshops online if she can figure out how to do it!
